WPP// Film and Photo Shoot

Originally the plan was to get the gear out in the morning and then film and shoot in studio 4 (Graphics) at 4pm when it would be free till college closed. Luckily for me when I came in to get the gear out I was told there was a spare studio we could work in but it would be lous because builders were working in the same room. This was fine because in the end our footage would be muted for a voice over.

It took a long time getting everything set up as getting a completely white background to take clean and professional photos took many lights and a white table, you will be able to see in the photos. Luke and I also had trouble when we discovered out our card was only a GB big and the photography studio didn't lend them out. We then got a 36GB from the film studio which was again lucky as without this we couldn't have been able to film.

We started by filming the poster with the thermo ink and this was quite simple as we decided to film close up. Luke brought in a hairdryer and it wasn't long before we were taking some really successful shots. We were worried that the powerful lights we were using would have a negative effect on the thermo ink because as we continued filming the lights got hotter and hotter. However there was no negative effect noticeable so this was a relief.

The next part of filming was the priority pack and this was a struggle. We had the idea to use our hands and film from a birds eye view. This would show the usability of the books and the packaging. This was hard however as it was difficult to consistently keep the books in shot and open them properly (only the middle pages had information and illustration, we tended to open them on the wrong page.)

After not too long we got everything filmed and shot properly. We got everything handed back to photography and continued to the mac suit to browse the film and photos we took during the day. The plan tomorrow is to get onto final cit pro and organise everything we have. We are also booked into the recording studio on Thursday so need to make a script for the voice over tomorrow.

Considering today was the first time I have set up a proper photoshoot I have learned a lot and wouldn't do anything differently. Before my hand in in may I am going to set up anther big photo shoot so I can take proper photos of my final products.
