Death Proof
This poster has a look that I want to accomplish in my design. I love the rusted and old look it has, espically round the edges. I chose this mainly because of the font for 'Death Proof'. This is defiantly a font I will use when the time comes. I'm considering making my own but to save time there might be on on the internet a can use for free. Colour in this is very simple but effective, its been used well to give depth to the poster.
The Go Kids
I stumbled across this when looking for poster art for the movie 'The Goonies' but this one caught my eye instead. Again its the font that I most admire. It has a very 80s feel to it, and that being when the movie was made I guess thats why I like it. Because I watched the movie I am most defiantly more interest in the movie side now. I like the idea of creating a book cover that looks more like a poster for a cinema. Then again I want my cover to be very, very simplistic with simple illustrations and text.
Reservoir Dogs
Another Tarantino movie poster. I guess I'm drawn to them. I really like how desaturated and sketchy the font is on this one. Looks screen printed and I'm beginning to realise that screen printing is what I want to now do. I am going to book a slot for tomorrow, I'm nervous as I have never done this before but I think this is a very good opportunity.
Icon : Eye & The Crossover
Both these posters have very simple icons which however are extremely effective. This is something I want to bring into my design, the wine bottle is the best example. a flip knife with 'the outsiders, it will be that simple but because it has been screen printed it will have a worn look that visually will be a delight to look at! My colour scheme has still not been decided but after playing around on illustrator I think I will find something pretty nice that suits the books personality.
The Outsiders Poster
This poster has probably been my best find so far. I love how grainy the outsides are with the black and the simplicity of the comb and the circle forming an exclamation mark. I wonder how that grainy effect has been made, probably from screen printing at this point I am not sure. Is this something I will be able to accomplish on the computer and is it only possible off the computer? This are all questions I will have to find out before I finish my design.
